Maria Luisa Belgiojoso was born in Milan, where she graduated in architecture from the Politecnico in 1964. From 1965 to 1967 she was an assistant of the Prof. Aldo Rossi. From 1965 to 1980 she worked with her father, the architect Lodovico Belgiojoso, in the Banfi, Belgiojoso, Peressutti and Rogers (BBPR) office, collaborating in the design of public buildings, schools, and residential and tourist.

At the same time, she conduced her own practice, both in Italy and abroad, concerning herself with interior and industrial design (furniture, objects, tile designs, etc). In 1981 she opened her own office in Milan; this is devoted to architecture, interiors and design.
